For a child, living with a serious illness is about so much more than medical treatment. It can mean watching friends do the things you wish you could do. Seeing the world carry on while your own life feels like it has come to a standstill.
Make-A-Wish grants the heartfelt wishes of children aged 3 to 17 who are living with a life-threatening illness. It is more than a moment of distraction. It is about giving a child something to look forward to – something they truly wish for. A special experience that can bring strength, joy and hope to the child and everyone around them.
“Since 1980, more than 615,000 wishes have been granted worldwide.”
Make-A-Wish volunteers take the time to really get to know each child. Together with the family, they find out what that child’s most heartfelt wish is. From there, they do everything they can to turn that wish into an unforgettable experience.
It might be a special trip, meeting someone they admire or experiencing something they have always dreamed of. No wish is too big or too small. What matters is that it comes from the child.
For families of seriously ill children, everyday life can be incredibly demanding – emotionally, physically and financially. A wish can offer a welcome break from those challenges. It creates a moment to enjoy together and reminds families that there are people around them who care.
In Germany, Vebego Foundation works together with Make-A-Wish to help make these special wishes a reality. Our colleagues at Vebego do more than support from the sidelines, they actively get involved. In November 2025, Vebego Foundation organised a wish workshop at the Wuppertal office. More than 30 colleagues took part, with others joining online from locations across Germany.
Make-A-Wish brought two real wishes from children to the workshop. Nine-year-old Vincent dreams of visiting the LEGO House in Billund. Five-year-old Eneas would love to meet a clown and become one himself for the day. Our colleagues worked together in groups to bring these wishes one step closer to reality. How can we make the day truly special? What would make the child happy? What does the family need? And how can we create memories they will treasure for years to come?
That is what our partnership with Make-A-Wish is all about. It goes beyond simply making a donation. It is about getting involved, sharing ideas and working together to create something truly meaningful. Want to find out more about Make-A-Wish Germany?
