Josine form Vebego Foundation is driven to make a difference

"There's always something you can do for someone else."

As Coordinator of Strategic Partners & Projects, Josine Dekker works every day to make a difference, for her colleagues and for the world around us. She talks about her work with visible passion. “This is where my heart is. It’s what gets me out of bed every morning.”

Vebego Foundation collaborates with various partners to support children and young people and also stands by its colleagues. “In addition to my job at the Foundation, I’m an ambassador for Stichting Jarige Job and act as an intermediary for the founding Sam& voor alle kinderen,” Josine explains.

But the foundation’s work goes beyond that. “We also support associations and volunteer work. Colleagues can apply for a €500 contribution to support a club or initiative they volunteer for. Sports, culture, hobbies—you name it. It’s a win for the organisation, a win for the colleague, and a win for us. That’s what ‘My effort, my project’ is all about."

“My background is in the cleaning sector. I soon realised how much energy I get from working with people,” she says. “I was a team leader at Stoffels Bleijenberg, part of Vebego for years, though the name only changed in 2024. It was a diverse and rewarding role. Then I heard about Vebego Foundation and the amazing work they do, like a construction trip to Sri Lanka. I knew right away—I wanted to be part of that.”

“It gave me so much energy. I knew I wanted to do more.”

“That trip was about helping to build homes after the 2004 tsunami. We’ve done several projects since then. My first trip was in 2018, when we helped build a community centre for women and children. That experience gave me so much energy. When the foundation began to grow, I just knew I had to be part of it,” she says with a smile. 

Every child deserves a birthday
“Including children in society is a big priority, both for me personally and for the Foundation,” Josine says. “That’s why we work with the founding Sam& voor alle kinderen. It allows us to really support families in need—things like laptops, sports gear, club fees or a bicycle to get to school. Sam& is a collaboration of five organisations: Stichting Leergeld, Jeugd Educatie Fonds, Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur, Nationaal Fonds Kinderhulp and Stichting Jarige Job. The volunteer work I do for Jarige Job means a lot to me. Every child deserves to celebrate their birthday, even if money is tight at home.”

Our Effort, Our Project
Josine’s work doesn’t stop there. “A big part of what I do is raising awareness and inspiring others—both colleagues and customers. People often want to help but don’t know how. That’s where we step in. We help find something that suits you. That’s how Our Effort, Our Project came about. It’s a way for customers to share their own ideas with us. Together, we shape those ideas and turn them into meaningful action. That’s real impact.”

“I truly believe that if everyone does one good thing every day, the world will naturally become a better place.”

Looking back, Josine says: “Vebego Foundation is here for all colleagues across all Vebego companies. To me, it shows what a people-centred organisation Vebego really is. There’s always something you can do for someone else. And I believe that if everyone does one good thing every day, the world will naturally become a better place.”
