Our partners
In Morocco, we work directly with SOS Children’s Villages. We stay in close contact with both the national office and the local SOS Village where the projects take place. By partnering with local contractors and builders, we also contribute to local employment.

An SOS Children’s Village provides a safe home for children who have lost their partners or whose parents are unable to care for them.

Projects in Morocco

2017 - 2019: SOS Children's Village renovation - Ait Ourir

Aït Ourir is a village located 30 km east of Marrakesh.

Following the completion of our project in Imzouren in 2016, Vebego Foundation decided to continue its partnership with SOS Children’s Villages. At the Aït Ourir location, we supported the renovation of several family homes.

Today, 84 children live here, dived across 11 houses, each with a dedicated SOS mother.

2014 - 2015: SOS Children's Village renovation - Imzouren

Imzouren is a city in the Nkur Valley in northern Morocco, located 18 km south of Al Hoceima, where Vebego Foundation also supported a project. Many Moroccan migrants originally come from this area of the valley.

In the SOS Children’s Village in Imzouren, 36 children live in 9 family houses, each with a dedicated SOS mother. The site also includes a nursery, a recreation space, and a primary school. These facilities are open to the local community as well, helping to create shared space where children and families come together.

In 2014, 2015 and 2016, colleagues from various Vebego companies in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland helped renovate the school and recreation are. The sanitation facilities also received a much-needed upgrade.

2013 - 2014: Construction of waste depot & cleaning training - Al Hoceima

Through our collaboration with Santé Pour Tous, we connected with the hospital in Al Hoceima, a city located in the Rif Mountains in northern Morocco. The hospital serves a large region, and patients often travel long distances to receive care. With only two surgeons performing around 3,000 operations each year, there is a critical shortage of resources and medical staff.

In April 2016, Vebego colleagues helped construct a waste depot on-site. This improved the regulation of waste disposal and significantly enhanced hygiene standards at the hospital.

Our colleagues also contributed to improving cleaning practices. Local staff received hands-on training in hygiene and cleaning methods, working side by side with our team to apply their new skills in practice.

The cleaning efforts were supported by materials and equipment provided by Alpheios and its partners. In total, five departments and around 100 rooms were thoroughly cleaned.

Posters with handwashing instructions were placed in the cleaned departments to promote everyday hygiene practices.
